The short answer

There is no single responsible “average” price for every Australian business. A clean sole-trader file and a multi-account business with payroll, reporting and a backlog are different jobs. Compare written scope, workload limits, review frequency and exclusions—not the headline number alone.

These are workload guides, not automatic quotes. Roar confirms the final scope and fixed monthly fee in a written proposal after reviewing the file. Software, onboarding, unusual complexity and work outside scope are identified before they are charged.

What changes the price?

  • Monthly transaction volume and the number of bank or card accounts.
  • Payroll headcount and the condition of payroll records.
  • Accounts payable, receivable and reporting frequency.
  • BAS or IAS preparation and lodgement scope.
  • The quality of existing reconciliations, opening balances and coding.
  • Historical clean-up, migration or training needed before the monthly rhythm can begin.

How to compare two proposals

Ask whether GST is included in the displayed total, whether software is separate, how extra work is approved, who is responsible for the file, and how often the books are reviewed. A cheaper quote can become expensive when the limits and exclusions are invisible.
